PRIEST CARE & EDUCATION

While facing diminished resources, our priests unconditionally answer the call “to do” by serving ever increasing needs throughout our Diocese. Our retired clergy assist with the celebration of Masses, visitation of the sick and offer spiritual guidance to individuals and families. My pledge to you and to my brother priests is to support this critical work.

Contributions to the Annual Appeal provide care for our 100 retired priests, and fund the ongoing formation of our priests, permanent deacons, seminarians and deacon candidates.

We have been blessed by recent growth in our Vocations Office, which guides those who are considering the priesthood through a discernment process. Your financial support of the Appeal has assisted the Vocations Office in its outreach. The result is that there are now 17 seminarians in the Diocese of Scranton – an almost 200% increase over the last two years.

Your gift to the Appeal also helps to ensure the continued celebration of the Eucharist, proclamation of the Gospel, administration of the Sacraments and devotions within our parish communities.
